CPR Basics* Easy
as A-B-C-D: Upon finding an unresponsive adult,
call 911 and get the AED if available. A
- Open the Airway with head tilt and chin lift. B
- Check for Breathing (look, listen, feel). If necessary
give 2 breaths that make the chest rise. C
- Move quickly to Compressions. Remove clothing from
the chest and place the heel of one hand with the other hand on top, at the center
of the chest between the nipples. Give 30 compressions. Press hard and press fast.
Give cycles of 30 compressions and 2 breaths until the AED arrives or EMS takes
over. D - Power
on and attach Automated External Defibrillator. Follow
voice prompts. *This page cannot
teach you CPR. Please consult the AHA CPR Manual for a more detailed description
of techniques. It's available for purchase in class.
