What is an AED ?

AED stands for Automated External Defibrillator.

Most cases of cardiac arrest are a result of ventricular fibrillation which is a chaotic and ineffective heart rhythm.

AEDs evaluate a victim's heart rhythm then generate and deliver a shock if necessary. AEDs are used only on victims with no normal breathing and no pulse.

The PAD (Public Access Defibrillation) program is one of the most important advances in public health. Through PAD, AEDs are made widely available in public places like airports, malls, and stadiums, for use by certified responders.

In all classes taught by AnneAerobic, you will learn to use an AED.
